Escape to Manteo! July 20, 2006

My job sent me to Manteo, North Carolina where I interviewed applicants for employment. I was happy that Ana Maria was able to accompany me on this trip. I had never been to the North Carolina outer banks before, so we decided to spend some time after hours seeing the local sites! We were able to visit the Wright Brothers' Memorial in Kitty Hawk. Also (pictured here) we enjoyed eating at a very nice resturant in Nag's Head. We stayed at a bed and breakfast in Manteo, the Scarborough Inn, and it was a really nice place to stay. I thought the evening picture of the sign looked pretty nice.

The Wedding Planners - July 10

Huddled in a booth at Red Lobster's Resturant, Nicole and her mother work out a few more details of Nicole's upcoming wedding. This evening Nicole treated us to dinner, and we feasted on fish, scallops, and shrimp! Wedding planning can be very tasty! :-)

Our "stained glass" backdoor.

I took this picture of our "stained glass" back door. Doesn't it look beautiful! It's really a transparent "cling-on". When we have our breakfast on Saturday mornings, we enjoy how the sunlight filters through the glass and creates a soft delicate glow and translucent color that falls across the breakfast table.

4th of July!

We had a great time on July 4 aboard the Marine Corps base, Camp Lejeune where we enjoyed a picnic basket of hotdogs, chips and coca-cola! Nicole and Brian joined us a little later in the evening, along with some other friends. The Marine Corps Band was great as usual, and the Chrystal Coast Choral Society, who joined them in a few patriotic selections, did a standup job as well. About 9pm we watched some awesome fireworks! I just didn't capture any images- only a few video clips :-( I was wishing all my family could have been been there to enjoy the evening.

Portugal beats England in Soccer! (July 1)!

Well, this was the only World Cup soccer game we watched up to this point. And my wife went crazy when Portugal won this 4th victory! She ran outdoors and grabbed our flag of Portugal and shouted across the neighborhood, "We won!" as she waved the flag back and forth, parading around our driveway. I followed her around and around... and waved at our neighbors, while taking pictures of Ana :-)
